Bio

I grew up and live in Omaha, Nebraska.

From an early age I was creative, spent my time assigning myself unnecessary art projects and taking art classes from various people and organizations in the city.

I knew I wanted to study art in college, however what medium to focus on wasn't clear until about my third year when I took my first oil painting course.

The traditional medium immediately grabbed me. Its ability to construct a surface with brushes and pigment seems simple, but it has proven to be the best and most challenging medium to get my ideas visualized.

My studio practice consists of combining images from the Hubble telescope, art history, the human form, and fractal generative software. The music I listen to can influence my work as well. I'm always painting to music. I sometimes combine sources digitally, or work from a simple sketch to reference then placing the brush to the canvas.

From there the painting will start to emerge and I begin to work more intuitively, letting the paint guide me to the final image.
